Tinker Afb Visitors Center - Welcome to Tinker Air Force Base, located in Midwest City, a suburb of Oklahoma City. Named after Major General Clarence L. Tinker, the first Native American major general, Tinker AFB has more than 26,000 soldiers and civilian employees covering approximately 9 square miles. It is the largest employer in the state of Oklahoma.

More than likely, you'll be flying into Will Rogers World Airport in Oklahoma City, OK. You can catch taxis and transportation like Lyft and Uber here at this government-military airport.
All drivers below must have a valid military ID, old or retired ID, valid driver's license and driver's insurance. All visitors should stop at the Visitor Center through the Tinker Gate off S Air Depot Blvd.
For all military personnel who arrive during business hours, contact your assignment group or team immediately. Any employee arriving after hours, on the weekend or on holidays, the Indian Hills Inn's 24-hour arrival center is located at 4002 Mitchell Drive. Your Chief's Support Staff (CSS) will process you from there and set you up for your operational instructions and welcome/personal announcements. new. Many are choosing to live a little further away in rural areas like Edmond. Edmond is still in the big city of Oklahoma City, but in a northern location far from the bottom. It still boasts the largest population, the 5th largest city in the state. There are many parks and communities in the northern part of the city and it has a high school rating.

There are no on-site schools at Tinker AFB. However, the schools serving Tinker Air Force Base are part of the Mid-Dell School System. Where your children go to college depends on where you live. For residents, students will attend Tinker Elementary School, located outside the campus. For older children, they attend Jarman High School or Middle City High School. Buses are provided for students.
The climate around Tinker Air Force Base in the Oklahoma City area sees extreme temperatures throughout the year. Summers are hot and cold, while winters can be cold and often windy. However, the temperature rarely exceeds 102 degrees or falls below 17 degrees Fahrenheit. Spring sees the most rainfall and the wet weather can last through most of the summer. Especially in April and May you can see the risk of bad weather, including tornadoes. Make sure you are always prepared and there are many ways to receive bad weather updates.

With a location in downtown Oklahoma City, there is no shortage of things to do in the city and outside. The city has many dining, shopping and entertainment options, including watching an Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game. The city is also known as the "Horse Show Capital of the World", hosting more national and international horse shows than any other city in the world. On the north side of town, you'll find the Martin Park Nature Center. Here you can enjoy many paths through forests and grasslands, with children's playgrounds and a center.
