g2c taurus 9mm

G2c Taurus 9mm - A third of Americans are realizing the importance of gun safety during this time (Summer 2020). Most of these people are first time buyers or at least first time gun buyers. Among all the things to think about when choosing a weapon, the price tag plays a role. We all want the best bang for the buck and usually settle for what we think is reliable. One of those budget pistol options is the Taurus G2C 9mm, which I will cover in this review.

The Taurus G2C is a Brazilian-made sub-compact double-action pistol derived from the Taurus PT111 Millennium G2. This pistol is offered in 9mm Luger and 40 S&W. Taurus makes about 20 different versions of the G2C, from the matte black model used in our review to the same gun available in just about any color you can dream up. On the surface, it's easy to see why this weapon is so popular. The compact frame and even smaller price make it hard to pass up for many.

The bull is not exactly sacred in the gun community, and I think it's only fair that I address it. Some people love them and others not so much. A semi-fake has caused some mistrust with quality control issues over the years. While Taurus has had some quality control issues in the past, I will say that many people speak highly of their customer service team and their willingness to solve problems.

It's hard to criticize a gun at such an affordable price. The phrase "you get what you pay for" generally applies to the gun industry. The Taurus G2C is (in my opinion) an entry-level concealed carry option for those unable or unwilling to spend more. For reference, most pistols in the same class will cost around $500.

The Taurus with G2C offers a better textured grip, digitized safety, accessible lines and an impressive 12+1 capacity with G2C. The "hand feel" you get with the Taurus G2C isn't great from my point of view, although I compare it to the best options on the market.

Having seen the Taurus G2C in person, I honestly expected less for the price. It's not a good looking gun, but it's not ugly either. The grip is well designed and fits my hand semi-comfortably; Here is a good start.

I recently took a Taurus G2C to the range and put a few hundred rounds through it. The G2C handled every ammo I gave it, including many popular self-defense rounds, without issue. It was a little sharper than I usually experience from a gun of this size, but overall not terrible.

One problem I ran into while shooting was the trigger guard. When I tried to hold it up, the fish guard was actually digging into the middle finger of my right (dominant) hand. I believe this was due to the angle of the trigger guard and complicating the trigger pull, something I will go into a little more in depth in this review.

In G2C, magazine releases are not vaguely advertised. This will obviously encourage left handed enthusiasts. In terms of magazine release, I was quite comfortable with it and had no problems using it. I would say the release is on the short side and a bit sharp on the edges. Not a big deal, but worth noting.

Operating the external features was mostly straightforward, although I found the slide release to be a bit stiff. I don't like seeing a manual safety on a CCW pistol like one would find on a G2C, but it was reasonably available.

For a gun at this price, I wasn't expecting much in terms of sight and trigger. My experience with both during my time at G2C Domain was uneventful. I didn't find the sights terrible, but the trigger was less than ideal on the gun I tested.

Taking and retrieving sites after the shot was organized with factory sites. A classic three-point setup is found on the G2C, which is similar. As is the case with most stock sights, you won't find them useful when shooting in low light.

The G2C trigger is one that I wasn't really a fan of. I've probably shot nerve guns with better triggers before; Yes it is bad. A unique feature of G2C Launcher is that it is a single action with double shot. I can see how this could be useful in certain situations, although I don't see it as necessary.

I experienced a long trigger pull with about 5 pounds against the wall and the rear of the trigger guard broke. Although it may not be something tight, this style of truck was uncomfortable for me to drive. The trigger didn't seem to break until the trigger was in the trigger guard so I had to press down a lot on my index finger.

While I can't say for sure if it's related, the trigger guard seemed to dig into the palm of my dominant hand when I pulled the trigger. I think the very long travel (with a lower than normal trigger guard) played a role in the discomfort.

While out at the range, I was able to spend some time testing muzzle velocity with a popular self-defense round from G2C, the Horned 124gr. XTP As I usually do for these types of tests, I fired 5 shots that were tracked by the Labrador device.

For a point of reference, Horned claims a velocity of 1,110 ft/s from a 4-inch barrel at 124 grams. XTP

My testing showed an average muzzle velocity of 1,052 feet per second from the G2C. With a 3.2 inch barrel, these results were quite predictable. For those who want to see a little more information on my quick mobile speed test, I've provided the data below:

When it comes to accuracy, I usually avoid going into it because it is so dependent on the shooter. I felt quite confident with the accuracy of the G2C and was able to place a good shot on target at the self-defense range. The G2C felt quicker to fire and stay accurate than I usually find with a firearm of this size. My theory is that the long truck pull is directly related to that experience.

In a saturated market of low-to-high-priced firearms, people usually choose what they believe to be the best balance of price and quality. It has its place in the ranks of G2C, though many would say the ranking is too low.

If there is a $200 gun that you can afford at all, I definitely feel good after shooting it that the G2C will work and perform when needed. That being said, I would personally struggle to spend $200-$250 on G2C. A better trigger, ergonomics, and ultimately better build quality aren't too far off at this price point with some of the more prestigious options on the market. If you only had $200 - $250 to spend, and you don't have time to spare, I would spend that money on a well-maintained and reputable used firearm. The deals are there.

I am sure that this version will be a very popular seller and I can appreciate the price of the gun. It's not attractive to me, and I'm sure to many other people, to trust my life to a very cheaply made weapon.
